Vietnam U20 football team enters Asian final round

Vietnam”s U20 football squad won a berth in the final round of the Asian U20 Football Championships 2006 after a 1-1 draw with Lao in a match in Ho Chi Minh City on Nov. 27.

The Vietnamese team last week defeated the Maldives 4-0 and Laos had beaten the Maldives 1-0 two days before.

After finishing their qualifying matches in the single round-robin format, both Vietnam and Laos scored four points, but Vietnam took first place in Group K thanks to its higher number of goals scored.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has yet to decide the venue for the finals.
