Coming out strong, Ha Tay’s Nguyen Thi Mai Ngoc made a sharp pass to right wing striker Nguyen Thi Thanh who used the opportunity to score the first of four goals eight minutes into the game.
Nguyen Thi Mai Ngoc followed it up by taking advantage of a goal keeping error to make it 2-0 only 20 minutes later.
Thai Nguyen, looking to fare better in the second half, just couldn’t keep up with Ha Tay and allowed another two goals by Nguyen Thi Nga and Nguyen Thi Thanh, respectively.
The tournament has pitted Ha Tay, Hanoi, HCM City, Ha Nam, Viet Nam Coal and Thai Nguyen against each other in two round robin stages.
The first matches are being played at Ha Dong and Son Tay stadiums and will finish on July 5.
The second half of the tournament will be held at Thai Binh Stadium and the Nam Dinh Sports Training Centre from July 10-27.
The winners will get VND80mil (US$5,000), while runners-up will receive VND60mil ($3,700), more than double the third place cash prize of VND30mil ($1,800).
