Head coach Park Hang-seo: “Today the players tried their best and achieved good results”
Speaking at the press conference after the match against Laos, head coach Park Hang-seo praised the attitude and competitive spirit of the Vietnamese players. The results satisfied him.
“Not every game is satisfying. But today I am satisfied with the performance of the whole team. I thank the players for their efforts. Of course, we will have to watch the video again to look back and learn from our experience, to have the best preparation for the match with Malaysia,” coach Park Hang Seo opened the press conference after the 6-0 victory over Laos in the opening match of AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022.
The Korean coach added: “Actually, as a coach, every match, we always try our best. This match is the first one, so would be tough, lots of variables. As a coach I am always stressed. Today, the players gave their best to achieve a good result.”
In this match, Quang Hai had to leave the field early in the first half. Coach Park said: “Quang Hai’s injury situation cannot be said. I have not been properly informed by the medical staff. I had a feeling he had a muscle twitch so I had to change. I have to work with the medical staff to know the specifics.”
Despite the easy victory, Coach Park Hang-seo still gave encouragement for Laos’ performance. “I have to keep watching the video to evaluate Laos,” he said. As I said before the game, this is the team they serve for the SEA Games. Due to young players, they play very quickly, flexibly and actively. Although they tried to deploy the ball widely throughout the field, due to physical problems, they did not meet expectations. However, as a coach, I appreciate the idea that the Laos’ coach built for his team.”
In this match, 3 lines of Vietnam Team all scored. In which, all 3 full-backs scored. Talking about this, the Korean strategist expressed: “If all the goals go according to plan, then too happy. But that’s not the case. Today we play hard. I pushed the two backs high. Many times, I tried to push Laos high up to exploit them. In the second half, we pushed more pressure. At that time, their fitness is down, so we can easily kick.”
In the early match in Group B, Malaysia won 1-0 against Myanmar. When asked by the media if he would watch the match between the two upcoming opponents of Vietnam, Mr. Park said: “I don’t watch the Malaysia vs Myanmar match. I don’t know the result yet. Our work plan is to wait for the video of the VFF. Then, our analyst staff will work, analyze them.
