The friendly match was part of the Vietnam Women’s Futsal National Team’s preparation for the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship, which will take place at the end of November in the Philippines. The opponent, Russia (ranked among the top 7 in the world), provided a high-quality challenge for Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng and his players. Facing such a top-tier team, it was not surprising that Vietnam conceded two goals within the first six minutes of the match.

Despite their efforts, the Vietnam Women’s Futsal team, led by Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng, could not alter the course of the match. Despite the hard work of captain Thanh Hằng, Thuỳ Trang, and their teammates, the score remained unchanged. Before the first half ended, the Russian futsal team added two more goals, taking a 4-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng’s side came out with renewed determination, even implementing a power-play strategy, but they were unable to break through the Russian defense. On the contrary, the Russian futsal team scored two additional goals, sealing a 6-0 victory.

Assessing the match, Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng said: “In this game, the whole team played relatively well according to the strategy set by the coaching staff, especially against a physically strong and fast opponent. We have identified weaknesses in terms of playing intensity under high pressure. In the coming time, the coaching staff will work on improving these weaknesses.”

On November 10, the Vietnam Women’s Futsal National Team will face the Russia Women’s Futsal National Team again, marking the final match of their domestic training camp before heading to the Philippines. The team is scheduled to depart on November 14 to compete in the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship.
