Ha Nam boot Ha Noi off top of the ladder

Ha Noi suffered a surprise defeat losing 2-1 to Ha Nam in the National Women”s Football Championship at Thien Truong Stadium on Sunday.

From the outset, Ha Noi, who beat Ha Nam 2-0 in the first leg at Ha Dong Stadium, went on the offensive but failed to find the back of the net.

Ha Noi, who were on 17 points from eight games, managed to break the deadlock in the 55th minute thanks to striker Ngoc Cham who scored from the penalty spot.

However, Ha Nam”s Bui Thi Nhu headed home a goal from a corner kick in the 70th minute, and in the 83rd minute, after a muddle in Ha Noi”s penalty area, Tran Thi Thu scored the winner.

In the other match on Sunday, Viet Nam Coal beat Thai Nguyen 2-0 at Thai Binh Stadium thanks to goals by Nguyen Thi Hanh and Bui Thi Phuong in the 54th and 66th minute.

After nine two-leg games, Viet Nam Coal now lead the field with 18 points, followed by Ha Noi with 17, defending champions Ha Tay with 14, HCM with 14, Ha Nam with 9 points and Thai Nguyen in last place with no points.

Six teams have entered this year”s round-robin tournament, which ends on Friday.
