Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan continues to be trusted to in charge of the AFC and AFF Competition Committee
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President of the Vietnam Football Federation – continued to receive the high trust of international football organizations when he was assigned the responsibility of the Chairman of the Competition Committee by the AFC and AFF.
Accordingly, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan will take the position of Chairman of AFC Competition for the term 2023-2027 and Chairman of AFF Competition for the term of 2022-2026. This is also the second time in a row that Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan has been trusted by AFC to run the unit is considered as the “backbone” in the organization and development of football tournaments in the continent as well as in the region.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan has been a member of the AFC Executive Committee since 2011 until now, and is also the official representative of AFF to join the AFC Executive Committee for the term 2023-2027. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan is also currently a member of the AFF Council and regularly plays an important role on the organization’s strategic and technical.
Being trusted to hold a key position in the organizational structure of AFC and AFF not only shows the prestige of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan personally, but also a recognition for the reputation and ability to contribute of Vietnamese football on the continent as well as in the region.
During his first term in the AFC, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan left his mark with initiatives and strategic solutions such as the decision to increase the number of teams participating in the Asian Cup from 16 to 24 since 2019, opening up opportunities to compete more for teams, thereby creating more impetus for the development of continental football. In addition, he also contributed ideas to adjust the format of the AFC Cup and AFC Champions League to make the competitions fairer and more reasonable for clubs in different regions of Asia.
