Nguyễn Tiến Linh, Trần Thị Thùy Trang, and Nguyễn Thịnh Phát won the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball
Nguyễn Tiến Linh, Trần Thị Thùy Trang, and Nguyễn Thịnh Phát have ascended to the top podium in the three categories of male, female, and futsal at the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball Awards.

On the evening of February 26th in Ho Chi Minh City, the organizing committee of the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball Awards announced the most prestigious awards. Attending the ceremony, the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City included the following officials: Dương Ngọc Hải, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Nguyễn Mạnh Cường, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Training Department of the City Party Committee; Lâm Đình Thắng, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications; Tăng Hữu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Training Department of the City Party Committee, former Editor-in-Chief of Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper; Nguyễn Tấn Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, former Editor-in-Chief of Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper; Nguyễn Nam Nhân, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Cao Văn Chóng, Deputy Director of the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Department of Bình Dương Province.
On the professional delegation side, the following individuals were present: Đặng Hà Việt, Director of the General Department of Sports; Trần Anh Tú, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation; Nguyễn Văn Phú, Secretary General of the Vietnam Football Federation; Nguyễn Minh Ngọc, CEO of the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company; and Trần Quý Long, Deputy Director of the V.League Project – FPT Play Television.
The representative of the main sponsor was Mr. Trần Anh Minh, CEO of Thái Sơn Nam Group Joint Stock Company.
On behalf of Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper, the organizer of the Vietnam Golden Ball Awards, the following individuals were present: Journalist Nguyễn Khắc Văn, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper; Journalist Nguyễn Nhật, Permanent Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball Awards; and Mrs. Bùi Thị Hồng Sương, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sài Gòn Giải Phóng Newspaper.
In addition, there were leaders of football teams, coaches, players, players’ families, fans, and journalists representing media agencies and press organizations who attended and reported on the event.
Vietnam football had a generally successful year in 2024. The ASEAN Cup 2024 championship was the most important title for the Vietnam national team in particular and Vietnamese football in general. In this success, many players such as Nguyễn Tiến Linh, Nguyễn Hoàng Đức, Phạm Tuấn Hải, Nguyễn Thành Chung, Bùi Tiến Dũng, and others made significant contributions.
Therefore, the players who contributed to the success of the Vietnam national team became competitors in the race for the 2024 Men’s Golden Ball Award. In the end, forward Nguyễn Tiến Linh earned the highest score and won the 2024 Golden Ball, while 2023 Golden Ball winner Nguyễn Hoàng Đức stepped back to claim the Silver Ball. Forward Phạm Tuấn Hải secured third place, earning the Bronze Ball.
In the women’s category, Trần Thị Thùy Trang received the highest score convincingly. She is regarded as a “rare talent” due to her exceptional playing skills, not only showcasing her abilities on the 11-player football field but also demonstrating her futsal technique (five-a-side indoor football) with great finesse, despite the two formats not being entirely similar.
Specifically, in 2024, after winning the National Women’s Football Championship with the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Football Club, bringing the total number of trophies to eight, Thùy Trang was called up to the Vietnam Women’s Futsal National Team to compete in the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship. To everyone’s surprise, the 37-year-old player displayed incredible skill and determination, leading the Vietnam Women’s Futsal Team to defeat their long-time rivals Thailand and claim the championship title.
Nguyễn Thịnh Phát won the 2024 Futsal Golden Ball Award. The pivo was rightfully honored for his contributions to both his club and the Vietnam National Futsal Team. Nguyễn Thịnh Phát played a key role in the National Futsal Team’s impressive achievements, including reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship and securing the runner-up position at the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship. At the club level, he helped his team, Thái Sơn Nam, win their 13th national championship title.
The year 2024 saw a remarkable transformation of goalkeeper Phạm Văn Tú. The “keeper” surprised everyone by ousting the veteran goalkeeper Hồ Văn Ý to claim the starting position for the Vietnam National Futsal Team at the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship. With excellent form at the club level, Phạm Văn Tú played a crucial role in helping Thái Sơn Bắc win the 2024 National Futsal Cup after a stunning 10-1 victory over Thái Sơn Nam in the final.
