Thailand and Singapore want to host AFF Suzuki Cup 2020
In the afternoon of Sep 27, AFF Competition Committee had an online meeting to discuss the events of ASEAN football in the next period, in which there was the selection of the venue for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020. VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan attended the meeting as Vice Director of the committee.
Due to the fast-changing of COVID-19 pandemic, AFF has to suspend many competitions during these two years. For AFF Suzuki Cup 2020, even facing many difficulties, AFF still determines to organise the biggest competition in the region.
Before that, base on the circumstance of the pandemic, AFF adjusted the competition’s regulation to organise in one venue instead of format home-away. This is more convenient for the prevention of the pandemic, thereby ensure the safety of the participants. This is the most important topic while AFF decided to organise the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020.
However, the selection of the venue is a tough thing. In total 5 countries registered to be the host, only Thailand and Singapore meet 6 criteria of AFF.
Singapore and Thailand had presentations on the conditions to organise the competition. AFF Competition Committee will continue to discuss and propose to AFF Congress for the final decision.
