The Vietnam U20 Women’s National Team steps up preparations for the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers

After a 10-day training camp in Japan, the Vietnam U20 Women’s National Team returned to Hanoi on July 21 to resume training. Following a day of rest and recovery, the players got back to work at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with great enthusiasm, ready to enter the next phase of preparation for the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.

Commenting on the training camp in Japan, head coach Okiyama Masahiko said that the Vietnam U20 Women’s players had the opportunity to play several matches against strong Japanese teams, most of which were older, allowing the players to learn a great deal. “We also realized there are still some areas that need improvement. This was a valuable training trip—not only did it help the players enhance their football skills, but it also broadened their cultural and lifestyle experiences, which contributes significantly to their overall development,” said coach Okiyama Masahiko.

Regarding upcoming goals, coach Okiyama affirmed the team’s strong determination to progress through each match of the qualifiers and secure a spot in the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup finals. “We will strive to score as many goals as possible to bring joy to our fans. At the moment, we’ve begun collecting and analyzing information about our opponents in the qualifiers, while also continuing to improve on the shortcomings identified during the recent ASEAN U19 Girl’s Championship,” coach Okiyama Masahiko added.

According to the plan, starting from July 24, the training sessions of the Vietnam U20 Women’s National Team will be held later in the day (from 6:00 PM) to help the players adapt to the match schedule of the 2026 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. The team is also expected to play several friendly matches against domestic clubs, which will help the head coach determine the best possible lineup for the upcoming qualifiers.
