The Vietnam women’s national football team has begun their training camp with a match against RB Leipzig (Germany)
At 18:30 local time on September 4, the Vietnam women’s national football team traveled from the Czech Republic to Germany to play a friendly match against RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig is a football club competing in the top tier of women’s football in Germany. Last season, they finished 8th out of 12 teams in the Frauen-Bundesliga, with 26 points.
The match was initially scheduled for 18:00, but due to the longer-than-expected journey from the Czech Republic to the match venue in Germany, both teams agreed to delay the kickoff time. The extended travel time has somewhat affected the playing condition of the Vietnam women’s national team.
After 90 minutes of play, despite their best efforts, the Vietnam women’s national team lost 0-2 to the German side. This result is considered acceptable given that their opponents were a European team with superior physicality and technique.
The primary goal of this training camp is to provide players with more opportunities to compete against strong opponents. Midfielder Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy shared: “Personally, I aim to gain more experience from European opponents and try to learn from them. Playing in Europe brings a different spirit and experience compared to facing domestic opponents. My team and I will strive to train well and compete with the utmost effort and unity.”
The Vietnam women’s national team will have two more friendly matches in the Czech Republic, against FC Pardubice on September 8 and FC Viktoria Plzen on September 11.
