The Vietnam women’s team completed 2023 with a world ranking of 37
On the fourth quarter rankings announced by the FIFA, the Vietnam women’s team completed 2023 with a rank of 37 with 1611.3 points.
The year 2023 marks a major turning point for the Vietnam women’s team by qualified in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time. Although couldn’t reach a new achievements in the most prestigious arena on the planet, what the head coach Mai Duc Chung, captain Huynh Nhu and her teammates have achieved extremely proud achievements. After the journey at the World Cup playground, the Vietnam women’s team continues to step into duty at the Asiad arena taking place in China and the 2nd Olympic qualifying round after competing excellently past the 1st qualifying round. Although they were not able to bring the best results in both the Asiad playground and the 2nd Olympic qualifying round, the female players certainly gained a lot of valuable experience to continue the strong change towards the tasks in the future.
In the continental arena, the Vietnam women’s team continues to maintain 6th place, right above the Philippine team (ranked 38th), while the Thai women’s team (ranked 48th) is currently ranked 10th. The top 10 in Asia on the December 2023 rankings also saw the Japanese team (ranked 8th) return to the top position, pushing the DPR Korea (ranked 9th) to number 2. Next positions, Australia (ranked 12th, down 1 place), China (ranked 19th, up 4 places), South Korea (ranked 20th), Vietnam (ranked 37th), Philippines (ranked 38th, up 6 places), Chinese Taipei (ranked 42nd, down 4 places), Uzbekistan (ranked 47th, up 3 places) and Thailand (ranked 48th, down 2 places).
