U23 Vietnam finished the training session at midnight, trying to get used to the time zone
On the evening of March 20 in Doha, U23 Vietnam continued to have a training session on training ground No. 3 of Qatar University Stadium. In order to help the players get used to the match schedule before entering the U23 Cup international tournament, the training session starts at 10:00 local time (2am 21 Mar Vietnam time) and ends at 00:00 (4a.m Vietnam time).
Regulating circadian rhythms is just as important as professional preparation. According to the average calculation for every hour difference, the body needs about a day to adapt to the change. This process can be faster or slower depending on the sensitivity of each person. For Vietnam U23 players, although there has been an initiative in adjusting the training schedule in the late evenings while still training in Vietnam, it is still not easy to get a normal state within 2 days. For example, according to goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan, the time the team went to the training ground, it was 2 am in Vietnam, so it was difficult to avoid feeling sleepy. However, thanks to the support of the team’s doctors through diet, rest as well as adjusting the training schedule according to the new time zone, the players also had a good rhythm. “The whole team and myself are ready for the tournament. We will try our best, work hard to get good results,” said Quan Van Chuan.
The training session on the evening of March 20 is also the second training session for the players to get acquainted with the official competition ball at the U23 international Cup . When asked how he feels about this ball, Quan Van Chuan said: “The ball in the U23 international Cup has a faster speed, a more realistic feeling, but it is also difficult to predict because it wanders. It is impossible to judge whether this is beneficial or not because everything has two sides. The whole team will always have to give their best.”
Back to the main content of the training session, coach Philippe Troussier continued to implement the lesson plan to practice ball control and small-touch coordination. He also asked his players to actively pursue and recover the ball from the opponent’s feet as quickly as possible. In the second half of the training session, the French leader divided the squad to practice tactical exercises on half the field.
At 11 am on March 21 local time (15:00 Vietnam time), coach Philippe Troussier will attend the press conference before the tournament. Meanwhile, some members of the coaching staffs are assigned to participate in the MCM.
On the evening of the same day, the team will have the last training session for the opening match against Iraq U23, taking place at Al Gharafa Stadium at 22:45 on March 22 local time (2:45 on March 23 in Vietnam time).
