VFF 10th Executive Committee Conference: Decide on important issues of Vietnamese football
This afternoon (June 15), the Conference of Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) took place at the VFF’s House and decided on important issues of Vietnamese football.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, the Acting President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan shared that in the first 6 months of 2022, Vietnamese football activities were still influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with experiences in the organization, the executive committee has shown solidarity and responsibility when actively developing plans and measures to deal with difficulties for Vietnamese football. On behalf of the Standing Committee, Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan thanked the contributions of the Executive Committee members, as well as the members of the Vietnamese football family when always showing a sense of responsibility and role in management and direction to achieve many outstanding results.
The results achieved during the first 6 months of Vietnamese football are very proud, and this success is thanks to the contribution of clubs and member organizations in training as well as timely providing personnel for the national team. Not only that, when the national teams always receive the timely attention, praise, and encouragement of the leaders… Among the impressive achievements of Vietnamese football at the beginning of the year, must be mentioned is the first-time qualifier FIFA World Cup 2022 of the Vietnamese women’s team; The U23 men’s team (actually U21) won the AFF U23 Championship in Cambodia for the first time; The national futsal team was present at the Futsal World Cup – Lithuania 2021 for the second time and only stopped because of Russia in the 1/8 round, making a strong impression on international futsal; Although the men’s football team stopped in the final qualifying round of the FIFA World Cup 2022, they had very impressive matches against the top teams in the continent and were highly appreciated by the international community.
Other important things that received the attention and appreciation are the Gold Medals of the U23 national team and the national women’s football team; and the bronze and silver medals of the Men’s and Women’s Futsal teams at the 31st SEA Games.
On June 12, the U23 Vietnam team also completed the task at the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022 Uzbekistan and finished in the quarterfinals after losing to Saudi Arabia. However, what the U23 team showed at the tournament was highly appreciated by experts as well as domestic and international football fans. It showed a generation of potential players for Vietnamese football in the future.
Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan assessed that, along with the successes achieved, Vietnamese football also creates new requirements and new challenges to the Executive Committee, when the workload needs to be handled is great, the pressure from the fans’ expectations is increasing.
With a sense of responsibility, the Conference discussed and approved the important issues of Vietnamese football:
– Report on the work for the first 5 months of the year and the plan for the last 7 months of the year;
– Report on the draft of the amended Vietnam Football Federation Status in accordance with the regulations of the World Football Federation (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the provisions of law;
– Orientation report on-time transition, plan to organize national professional football tournaments from 2023. To ensure the change of season timeline caught up with AFC’s schedule, professional tournaments season 2023 are expected to take place from January 2023 to August 30, 2023, and the 2023-2024 season is expected to start from November 2023 and end in June 2024;
– Improve the quality of domestic Futsal tournaments;
– Collaborated with Red Star Business Club to establish the Vietnam Women’s Football Development Fund;
One of the important issues reported and approved at the Conference was the tentative plan to hold the IX Congress of the VFF term 2022-2026, in order to select the appropriate leadership for Vietnamese Football, aiming to successfully carry out the tasks in the new period, especially the opportunity to attend the FIFA World Cup when FIFA increases the number of teams participating in the finals from 32 teams to 48 teams from 2026.
At the conference, Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan on behalf of the Executive Committee congratulated Vice President Cao Van Chong on his appointment as Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province.
