VFF Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan met the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran
On the afternoon of October 20, 2022, VFF Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan met the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran -Mr. Ali Akbar Nazari.
At the meeting, Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari affirmed the good relationship between Iran and Vietnam, the two countries always support each other on multilateral forums, especially the two Football Federations Iran and Vietnam always have the mutual support relationship in the field of football. He expected that football will be a connection to continue promoting diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In particular, in 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari expressed his wish to organize friendly matches between Vietnam and Iran national teams, maybe in the youth football, futsal, women’s football… This will be an opportunity to promoting thư people-to-people diplomatic relations between the two countries, and at the same time introduce together the cultures of the two nations.
On behalf of VFF Executive Standing Committee, Acting President Tran Quoc Tuan thanked Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari for his affection towards Vietnamese football and fully agreed with the Ambassador’s proposal. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan also expressed his wish to further promote the cooperation relationship between the Vietnam Football Federation and Iran Football Federation through the Iranian Embassy in Vietnam and will be concretized by cooperation football development project between the two countries in the coming time. For football exchange activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, VFF will calculate the match schedule in 2023 to find an appropriate time to organize a friendly match or tournament.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan also excitedly shared with Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari about the impressive achievements of Vietnamese youth football in recent years. All three youth teams of Vietnam, U17, U20 and U23 have reached the Asian finals. However, in order for Vietnamese football to achieve further success, the Vietnam Football Federation always advocates expanding relations with countries with a developed football background and is willing to cooperate with Iran – a power-country in football and futsal in Asia.
