VFF continues to extend the contract with head coach Mai Duc Chung
On the morning of August 8, at VFF’s house, General Secretary Le Hoai Anh and coach Mai Duc Chung agreed to sign a contract extension for the title of head coach of the national women’s football team.
General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation Le Hoai Anh said that the new contract was signed from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 with the main task of head coach Mai Duc Chung to continue to guide the Women’s team participates in the 2023 Women’s World Cup Finals, scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand in August next year.
Head coach Mai Duc Chung said: “My contract will continue until the end of 2023. In 2022, I and VFF will continue to perform the signed contract. I was excited, but also found this to be a very heavy task. In 2023, the women’s team has many tasks to complete. In Southeast Asia, countries that have begun to invest more for women’s football, for example the Philippines, are investing by gathering overseas Filipino players. However, in my opinion, it is necessary to build long-term and sustainable. Vietnamese women’s football still needs to train young people in the country, as experiences from Japanese, Korean or Chinese women’s football.”
Revealing the training plan of the national women’s team, head coach Mai Duc Chung said: “This year, after the last AFF tournament, the players returned to their clubs to participate in the Women’s National Cup. From now until the end of the year, the players will continue to participate in domestic tournaments. We will propose to VFF to gather young players from all women’s clubs to gather for 2 weeks to train in skills and technical so that the players can adapt faster when come to the national team. In the following year, the national women’s team has many international missions such as Asiad, SEA Games and especially attend the World Cup 2023. The plans have been made but are still tentative and will continue to be developed in the upcoming time”.
