VFF’s President visits and encourages player Nguyễn Xuân Son at Vinmec International Hospital
This morning (January 7), President of the Vietnam Football Federation, Trần Quốc Tuấn, visited and encouraged player Nguyễn Xuân Son at Vinmec Hospital. Son had just undergone surgery to treat an injury sustained during the return leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final. Accompanying President Trần Quốc Tuấn were Vice President Nguyễn Trung Kiên and General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú.

President Trần Quốc Tuấn expressed deep concern and congratulated Nguyễn Xuân Son on the success of his surgery. He emphasized that Xuân Son’s dedication and fighting spirit are a great inspiration to the national team and Vietnamese football fans. He also assured that the Vietnam Football Federation will always stand by and support Nguyễn Xuân Son during his recovery process.
On behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation, President Trần Quốc Tuấn expressed his gratitude to Professor, Doctor, and Surgeon Trần Trung Dũng, Director of the Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Specialist Department at Vinmec Healthcare System, as well as the surgical team for their dedicated care in treating Nguyễn Xuân Son. He also expressed confidence that with the best medical care, Xuân Son would soon recover and return to the field.
Nguyễn Xuân Son is one of the key players of the Vietnam national team in the 2024 ASEAN Cup. In the return leg of the final against the Thailand national team, he suffered a serious injury and was transferred to a hospital in Bangkok by ambulance. The results of the examination and imaging confirmed that Son had fractured both the fibula and tibia of his right leg. Despite being forced to leave the field early, Xuân Son’s spirit and efforts inspired his teammates to persevere and achieve a hard-fought victory against their “fierce rival” Thailand, securing their third regional championship title. For his significant contributions to the Vietnam national team, Nguyễn Xuân Son was honored with the Third-Class Labor Medal by the President of Vietnam.
Currently, Nguyễn Xuân Son is in the recovery process at the Vinmec Sports Medicine Center, the only medical facility in Vietnam recognized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as an Excellent Sports Medicine Center. This certification is awarded to medical facilities that meet the highest professional standards and provide optimal healthcare services for football players in Asia.
The players who were part of the Vietnam national team lineup yesterday, such as Tuấn Hải, Tiến Linh, Hoàng Đức, and Duy Mạnh, have all been examined and treated at the Vinmec Sports Medicine Center. Over the past two years, the center has also successfully performed surgeries for many other national team players, including Lê Văn Xuân, Nguyễn Văn Toản, Chương Thị Kiều, Thái Thị Thảo, Nguyễn Thị Vạn, and treated over 50 other players from the national football teams. These athletes have overcome serious injuries and returned to contribute to their national teams.
