The latest call-up reflects a balanced blend of experienced internationals, promising young talents, and in-form naturalised and overseas Vietnamese players. Notably, the squad once again features naturalised and overseas-based players such as Nguyễn Xuân Son, Đặng Văn Lâm, Đỗ Hoàng Hên, as well as newcomers Le Giang Patrik, Nguyễn Tài Lộc, and Ngô Đăng Khoa. The inclusion of players with diverse football backgrounds, strong physical attributes, and a modern approach to the game provides the team with greater depth, increased competition across positions, and improved overall quality.

At the same time, Kim Sang Sik continues to place his trust in a core group of seasoned campaigners. Players including Nguyễn Quang Hải, Nguyễn Hoàng Đức, Đỗ Duy Mạnh, Lê Phạm Thành Long, Đoàn Văn Hậu, Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh, Nguyễn Văn Vĩ, Nguyễn Hai Long, Phạm Xuân Mạnh, Nguyễn Thành Chung, and Trương Tiến Anh have been regular members of the national team for many years. Their international experience will be crucial in maintaining stability as Vietnam prepares for the challenges ahead.

Among the clubs contributing players, Công An Hà Nội FC lead the way with six representatives in the squad. Despite setting their sights on the AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27 qualifiers, the reigning V.League champions have fully supported their players’ national team duties, once again demonstrating their commitment and responsibility towards Vietnamese football.

The squad selection also reflects the coaching staff’s long-term vision of building the next generation. Several young prospects who have shown encouraging development at club level have earned opportunities, including Nguyễn Đình Bắc, Nguyễn Ngọc Mỹ, Nguyễn Nhật Minh, Đinh Quang Kiệt, and Trần Trung Kiên.

According to the schedule, Vietnam will reconvene in Hanoi on 22 June. After an initial training period at home, the team will travel to South Korea from 2 to 14 July for an overseas training camp and three international friendlies aimed at evaluating the squad and fine-tuning tactical preparations.

Following the South Korea trip, the team will return to Hanoi before taking on Myanmar in an international friendly at Thái Nguyên Stadium on 18 July. The match will provide the coaching staff with a final opportunity to assess the squad and complete preparations ahead of ASEAN Cup 2026.

Vietnam will begin their ASEAN Cup 2026 campaign with an away match against Timor-Leste on 24 July. With a strong squad and a carefully planned preparation programme, Kim Sang Sik’s men are aiming to successfully defend their ASEAN Cup title.
