Vietnam U17 cruise to a 10-0 win over Timor-Leste U17, move closer to semi-final spot

Vietnam U17 continued to showcase their dominance with a resounding 10-0 victory over Timor-Leste U17 in their second Group A match of the 2026 Southeast Asian U17 Championship, moving closer to a place in the semi-finals.

Right after kickoff, head coach Cristiano Roland’s players quickly took control of the game and opened the scoring early. In the 6th minute, from a free kick on the right flank, Nguyen Luc struck a superb shot into the far corner to give Vietnam U17 the lead.

Vietnam U17 continued to dominate the following minutes. In the 9th minute, from a corner taken by Minh Thuy, centre-back Manh Cuong rose high for a header, but the ball went just wide. In the 15th minute, Manh Cuong found the net again, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

The constant pressure soon translated into more goals. In the 20th minute, from an attack down the left wing, Dai Nhan tapped in from close range to make it 2-0. Just four minutes later, Ngoc Son capitalized on space inside the box to score Vietnam’s third goal. In the 30th minute, Nguyen Luc completed his brace with a curling effort from a direct free kick just outside the penalty area, helping Vietnam U17 take a 4-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Vietnam U17 maintained their dominance. In the 55th minute, goalkeeper Xuan Hoa made a notable save to deny a Timor-Leste player. Shortly after, Vietnam U17 continued to pile on the pressure.

In the 62nd minute, Tri Dung made a clever run before finishing from a tight angle to make it 5-0. A few minutes later, Van Duong’s shot deflected off a defender and found the net for the sixth goal. In the 70th minute, Duy Khang tapped in from close range following a low cross from Van Duong, extending the lead to 7-0.

Within the next few minutes, Vietnam U17 added more goals in quick succession. In the 72nd minute, Van Duong finished accurately across goal to make it 8-0. In the 81st minute, he continued his fine form with a skillful move before curling a beautiful shot into the top corner for the ninth goal. In the 85th minute, Nguyen Luc followed up by completing his hat-trick with a composed finish, sealing a 10-0 victory for Vietnam U17.

With this result, Vietnam U17 collected six points after two matches and built a significant goal difference advantage (+14) in the race for a semi-final spot. In the final group match, coach Cristiano Roland’s side will face hosts Indonesia in a decisive clash for the top position in Group A.
