Vietnam U18 women’s team completes the journey with the Silver Medal
The Vietnam U18 women’s team under the guidance of head coach Akira Ijiri played hard, but could not surprise Australia in the final of the AFF U18 Women’s Championship and finished as the runner-up.
Entering confidently from the first minutes, the Women’s U18 Vietnam team surprised the opponent with the opportunity to bring the ball close to the Australian U18 women’s net. However, no goals were scored.
After the first few minutes of instability, the Australian U18 women’s team gradually regained the game thanks to its superiority in bodybuilding. Head coach Ijiri Akira’s team only held the opponent for 40 minutes, before Sienna Saveska cushioned the ball close to the wall from a teammate’s pass, opening the score of the match.
By the 52nd minute, Australia’s U18 team doubled the gap. Continuing with the close-range ball, Mary Stanic-Floody put her name on the scoreboard. The Vietnam U18 women’s team played hard in the following minutes to find a goal, as well as protect the home team’s net. However, no more goals were scored until the end of the match.
The women’s U18 Vietnam won silver at the 2022 AFF Women’s U18 Championship. The bronze medal belonging to Thailand’s U18 women when they defeated Myanmar 2-0. Ngoc Minh Chuyen of Vietnam Women’s U18 won the title of Top Score in the tournament.
