Vietnamese representative Thai Son Bac won a silver medal in the first leg of the Tiger Street Football tournament in Singapore, picking up US$1,500 bonus for their trouble.
Thai Son Bac, Viet Nam’s futsal (indoor football) champions, were defeated 4-5 by Brazilian ADC Florianopolis in the final. It was the two teams’ second meeting, Thai Son Bac lost 0-7 in the group round. The winner took $3,000.
Earlier, Thai Son Bac beat La Plata of Singapore 4-2 and, ranking second with three points, came from behind to beat GH Bank Rbac of Thailand 4-3 in the knockout stage.
In the third-placed playoff, GH Bank Rbac crushed On the Run of Singapore 7-1.
The second leg of the competition will be held in Bangkok in May before the third inGuangzhou in July. HCMCity will host the fourth leg in August.
At the Grand Final in Kuala Lumpur, the winner will receive $30,000.
The goal of the tournament is to elevate the level of play and passion for football in the nations that host the competition.
