According to the schedule, the two friendly matches between the Vietnam and New Zealand women’s futsal teams will take place on 12 and 14 November at the Thai Son Nam Arena in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City. The New Zealand women’s futsal team are expected to arrive in Vietnam on 7 November to prepare for the matches.

The Vietnam women’s futsal team will assemble from 1 November at the Futsal Club under the Chanh Hung Ward Public Service Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. From 1 November to 12 December, the team will focus on strengthening their physical fitness, refining technical skills and implementing tactical plans as they prepare for their continental campaign.

The New Zealand women’s futsal team (Futsal Ferns) are expected to travel to Vietnam with a 14-player squad, including three players currently playing overseas. The players based in New Zealand will gather in Auckland for two days before departing for Vietnam, where they will join their overseas-based teammates.

In 2026, the Futsal Ferns have held several regional training camps to broaden their player pool and identify new talent. The tour of Vietnam will mark the first time since April that the national team have been able to assemble their full squad, allowing the players time to train and build team cohesion ahead of the two friendly matches against Vietnam.

Earlier, 2025 proved to be a challenging yet valuable year for New Zealand women’s futsal, featuring numerous matches against top-level opponents and participation in the World Cup. The experience gained provided a foundation for the team to continue testing new options, developing their squad and shaping their playing style in 2026. The tour of China in April also delivered positive results, giving the team further encouragement ahead of their upcoming challenges.

The two friendly matches against New Zealand will provide the coaching staff of the Vietnam women’s futsal team with an opportunity to assess their preparations, review the squad and evaluate the team’s tactical execution in competitive conditions. Facing an international opponent will also help the players gain experience, improve their coordination and adapt to match intensity, providing a basis for the coaching staff to make adjustments to personnel and tactics for the next phase.

According to an announcement issued by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on 26 October, the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games have been rescheduled and will now take place from 28 March to 8 April 2027.
