Vietnam women’s team practice first session, prepare for ASIAD 19
Today (August 11), the Vietnam women’s team has the first training day at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, aiming for ASIAD 19 to take place at the end of September.
Sharing before the training session, midfielder Chuong Thi Kieu said: “When the team gathered back, the atmosphere in the team was very happy even though there were many young players. I have been playing for a long time, so I also want young players to be gather to experience and focus more with seniors to look forward to the future of women’s football.”
“We have accumulated a lot of experience from the Women’s World Cup towards ASIAD. Training and playing friendly games as well as playing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 with world-class teams made us learn a lot. Head coach Mai Duc Chung also advised us to improve if we lack something. He encouraged us not to be sad because we didn’t score, but to use that as a motivation to try and think about the future,” added Chuong Thi Kieu.
In order for the players to quickly regain their training status after more than a week of rest, today, the coaching staff for the whole team practiced supplementary exercises to strengthen their physical strength. Despite the heavy rain in Hanoi today, the players still actively completed the exercise.
Talking about the upcoming opponent at ASIAD 19, the “steel shield” of the Vietnam women’s team said: “The Japan team played with determination and teamwork. If the upline is surpassed, there is always a support downline, very tight. Before, when playing against Japan teams, they were very skillful, causing many difficulties for us. However, I see that the Vietnam women’s team, regardless of whether the opponent is strong or weak, has gone on the field to play hard not only for the team but also for the fans.
This morning, coach Mai Duc Chung also had a meeting with his associates to discuss the best professional content for the Vietnam women’s team in the upcoming tournament. The staff of the team has also been consolidated. During Huynh Nhu’s absence, striker Pham Hai Yen will take the role of captain with two vice captains, goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh and center-back Chuong Thi Kieu.
