Vietnam won the bronze medal after crushing Malaysia 3-0 and Thailand beat Australiain the final after the penalty shoot-out, winning the AFF U-19 Championship title.

Right after the start, Vietnam dominated the match and created so many opportunities to score. Minh Tuan’s shot hit the crossbar before Dinh Bao opened the scoring with his wonderful strike in the 26th minute.

 

Dead-ball expert Quoc Phuong doubled the score for Vietnam with his fire from freekick ten minutes later.

 

After the break, Malaysia tried to fight back but  in the 61st minute Mohd Fazail was sent off for his brutal fault and Thamil Ambumamee was shown a red card for his reaction to referee’s decision.

 

From this moment, nine-men Malaysia played mainly in defence. In the 68th minute Minh Tuan widened the gap for Vietnam when he headed from The Nhat’s cross. Having defeatedMalaysia 3-0, Vietnam earned the bronze medal.


In a dramatic and thrilling AFF U19 final later, Thailand defeated Australia 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out after drawing 2-2 in 120 minutes.

 

In the first half, both teams played in a slow pace. Thailand played well in defence while Australian performance was not impressive.

 

After the break, Australia continued dominate the game  but it was Natthawut Khamrin who gave Thailand the lead with his fine shot from a close range in the 68th minute.

 

In the last minute, Dylan Mcgowan equalised for Australia with his header from his teammate’s freekick.

 

In the 30-minute supplemented time, Adisak Krisorn gave Thailand  the lead again when he sent the ball into the net from a close range in the 100th minute. In the 119th minute Jared Lum scored the equaliser for Australia.

 

In the penalty shoot-out, Thailand beat Australia 3-2, winning the AFF U-19 tournament.
