It was a matchday when two teams confirmed their passage through to the knockout rounds, others took big strides forward and several more bade farewell to the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup.
In amongst all the shuffling on the standings were some highlight performances as a Thai superstar sparkled, a Singapore Lion roared, a Kouprey burst into life, a Garuda stood firm and a Golden Star Warrior showed his strength.
A match that Vietnam dominated in terms of possession nonetheless saw them struggle to break down an impressive Indonesia side who repeatedly repelled their attacking forays.
That meant that Vietnam had to remain patient in moving the ball in tight spaces centrally as well as switching to wide positions and the tireless Phong Hong Duy was a constant presence from his role as the wide left midfielder in his team’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
