Having previously won 5-0 against Indonesia in the final of the 33rd SEA Games futsal event, the Vietnamese team proactively pushed forward and controlled the game from the starting whistle. Right in the first minute, Nguyệt Vi had a shot that went narrowly wide after a corner kick. Soon after, Biện Thị Hằng, Thu Xuân, and Thanh Ngân all had opportunities from long-range shots and angled finishes, but the ball did not find the net.
