Head coach Park Hang-seo: “Vietnam national team strives to win in each match”
In the press conference before the first leg of the semi-final with Thailand at AFF Suzuki Cup 2020, head coach Park Hang-seo affirmed that Vietnam national team strives to win in each match. Meanwhile, defender Do Duy Manh also argued that the team will try to reach the target.
Talking about opponent Thailand, head coach Park Hang-seo said that: “We know Thailand is a strong team and is always a contender to win the Suzuki Cup. They are a high-quality team. We respect them”.
He also shared that: “This tournament we always worked hard. Of course, these efforts may couldn’t satisfied the fan, but we always try hard. Not 100% but we can win this match”.
“I sure that Thailand will try to have goal into the net of Vietnam. I and coaching assistants also need to find solutions to try and score against them”.
Park also touched on the fact that the Thailand coach, Alexandre Polking, has experience coaching at club level in Vietnam, where he was previously in charge of Ho Chi Minh City FC, declaring it has little relevance to this game.
“We have no need to worry about that as it’s in the past but, whilst he might understand the Vietnamese players, we also understand the characteristics of the Thailand team because we’ve played against them many times.”
“We always strive in each match. We do not know the result tomorrow, but we always prepare to play with our best”. Head coach Park Hang-seo stated that.
Defender Do Duy Manh:
“The FIFA World Cup third qualifier is a difficult competition. Vietnam is the only ASEAN team in this phase. We are proud of that because it is an arena that any team wants to attend. In fact, we had a good experience in that qualifying”.
“AFF Suzuki Cup is the highest competition of ASEAN and we try to show our best. We had a good result in the group stage to join into the semi-final. We will continue working hard to meet the target”.
The first leg of the semi-final between Vietnam and Thailand will kick off at 7:30 p.m on Dec 23 at Singapore National Stadium. The second leg will take place at 7:30 p.m on Dec 26.
