Head coach Park Hang-seo: “Vietnam team will try hard in each match”
In the afternoon of Sep 21, AFF organised the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 Drawing Ceremony. As the result, Vietnam is in Group B with Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Laos.

Talking about this result, head coach Park Hang-seo said that: “In general, the teams in ASEAN have the same level. Therefore, the result for me is normal”.
“I think the teams in our group are all the tough opponents. We will have to work hard in each match. The first goal is qualifiying the group stage, then we can think about the semi-final and final game”.
Besides the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020, Vietnam still has to play in World Cup 2022 Asian Qualifier. This requires the team to have a detailed plan to ensure the power for both competitions. Head coach Park Hang-seo shared that each competition has advantages and disadvantages for the Vietnam team.
As per the schedule of AFF, the play-off between Timor-Leste and Brunei will ties on Dec 1, 2021. The competition will organise from Dec 5, 2021, to Jan 1, 2022.
In the group stage, the teams will play in one round to count points. The winner and runner-up will join the semi-final.
Vietnam is the defending champion of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
