In a futsal friendly match, U19 Vietnam defeated the U19 Russia national team 4-2
On the afternoon of October 3rd at the Q8-TPHCM Futsal Club gymnasium, U19 Vietnam held their first “first leg” friendly match of the year against the U19 Russia futsal team. Under the guidance of coach Trịnh Hữu Thành, the players made a strong impression by securing a 4-2 victory.
Coming from a country ranked 7th in the world in futsal, the U19 Russia futsal team confidently launched an attack right from the opening whistle, forcing the U19 Vietnam futsal team to retreat and defend. However, the attacking line of the U19 Russia futsal team struggled to break through the well-organized defense of the U19 Vietnam team.
Despite their aggressive play, the U19 Russia futsal team paid the price for not scoring, conceding a goal in the 11th minute. After winning the ball in midfield, the U19 Vietnam futsal team created an opportunity for Nguyễn Văn Đức to score the opening goal. However, less than two minutes later, the U19 Russia futsal team equalized, bringing the match back to square one.
Thanks to these two goals, the second half became even more dramatic, with an additional four goals scored. It started in the 24th minute, when Nguyễn Minh Lương, after a well-executed corner kick, surged forward from midfield and struck powerfully to put U19 Vietnam futsal back in the lead at 2-1. Trailing behind, the U19 Russia futsal team continuously sought opportunities to close in on Vietnam’s goal but took a full 10 minutes to equalize at 2-2.
As the match approached its final minutes, U19 Vietnam futsal showed they had the upper hand. In the 38th minute, Nguyễn Đa Hải converted a 10-meter penalty to give Vietnam a 3-2 lead. Just one minute later, U19 Russia’s power-play strategy fell apart when they lost the ball in the opponent’s half, allowing Trịnh Công Đại to combine with Nguyễn Đa Hải before scoring the final goal, sealing the match at 4-2.
According to the schedule, the “return leg” friendly match between the two teams will take place at 4:00 PM on October 5th. These friendly matches against the U19 Russia futsal team are part of a plan to provide young Vietnamese futsal players with valuable experience, while also allowing the coaching staff to assess the squad in preparation for upcoming official international tournaments.
