AFC Futsal Championship 2006 draw on April 23

The eighth AFC Futsal Committee today confirmed that the Official Draw for the AFC Futsal Championship, Uzbekistan 2006, will take place on Sunday 23 April 2006 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Sixteen teams will participate in this competition.

Thirteen (13) teams will qualify directly according to the AFC Futsal Championship 2005 ranking. These teams are: Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Kuwait, Tajikistan, China, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Chinese Taipei and Indonesia.

Three teams will join the top-ranked teams from the qualification round, being the winners of each of the two groups, and the best runners-up.

The two groups are:-

ASEAN Zone: Maldives, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Turkmenistan.

Venue:Malaysia (Kuantan, Pahang), dates TBC.

East Zone: Macau, Hong Kong, DPR Korea, Korea Republic, Australia.

Venue:Macau, 11-13 April 2006.

The AFC Futsal Championship, Uzbekistan 2006, will take place from 21-28 May 2006 at the Yunusabad Complex and the Chirchiq Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
