This is the first time the Vietnam team joining in the final qualifier round of the FIFA World Cup. This achievement is not only evident for a new step of Vietnam football in the world but also opens a chance for the team to improve and get closer with the region/world level, forward to the development targets in next period. Vietnam also is the only ASEAN team in this round.

As the draw result, in this qualifying, our team stands in a Group with Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabic, China, and Oman. VFF is preparing and planning the best solutions for the competition from Sep 2021 to Mar 2022.

Pic: VGP/Nhật Bắc On the afternoon of Jul 13, Prime Minister had a meeting with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on the tasks of sports and physical training as well as meet some athletes who will represent Vietnam joining in Olympic Tokyo 2020. Accompany with Vice Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung. The meeting is to evaluate the achievements and limitations of sports and physical training, gain experiences and propose tasks, solutions in the upcoming time. In this case, Prime Minister appreciated the men’s national team for the recent achievements and encouraged the Olympic Tokyo 2020 delegation. He affirmed that Government always follows and supports the athletes and hoped that the athletes play with good spirit and get over the difficulties.
