Myanmar team arrive in Thai Nguyen ahead of international friendly match against Vietnam team

Late on 15 July, Myanmar’s national team arrived in Thai Nguyen after travelling from Yangon to prepare for their international friendly against Vietnam, scheduled for 19:00 on 18 July at Thai Nguyen Stadium.

Despite arriving quite late after a long flight, the members of Myanmar’s national team remained in good spirits and warmly greeted hotel staff and some fans who were there to welcome the team.

Myanmar have brought to Vietnam a squad built around the core group being prepared for the ASEAN Championship 2026. The squad combines a number of promising young players with experienced internationals currently playing in the domestic league and for clubs in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

According to the schedule, Myanmar will hold their first training session at Thai Nguyen Stadium on the afternoon of 16 July to familiarise themselves with the playing conditions ahead of their clash with Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Vietnam will continue to complete their final preparations in Hanoi before travelling to Thai Nguyen on 17 July. The match against Myanmar will serve as an important final rehearsal for head coach Kim Sang Sik and his players before they travel to Thailand to compete in the ASEAN Championship 2026.

The match has already generated considerable interest, with all tickets priced at VND 200,000 and VND 300,000 sold out online. The Organising Committee is continuing to sell the remaining tickets priced at VND 100,000 directly to serve fans in Thai Nguyen.
