PVF, SLNA advance to the semifinals of the 2024/25 U19 National Football Championship
The important victory in the quarterfinals helped PVF and SLNA secure a spot in the semifinals of the 2024/25 U19 National Football Championship.
Both quarterfinal matches on February 23 were exciting duels eagerly anticipated by fans. On Tan Hung Field, The Cong Viettel faced off against Song Lam Nghe An with the ambition to secure a spot in the next round. However, their 1-6 loss in the final group stage match against PVF somewhat affected the morale of the soldiers’ team.
The players of Coach Dang Thanh Phuong fought hard but couldn’t produce many results. After a solid start, The Cong Viettel conceded a goal just before the end of the first half. In the 42nd minute, defender Nguyen Van Tam joined the attack and scored with a precise finish, opening the scoring for Song Lam Nghe An. The remaining time in the first half wasn’t enough for The Cong Viettel to equalize, and they left the field at a disadvantage.
In the second half, The Cong Viettel played much better compared to the first 45 minutes. In the 63rd minute, Dang Thanh Binh shone with a goal to level the score at 1-1 for the Northern team. Not wanting to take the match to a penalty shootout, Coach Nguyen Huy Hoang urged his players to increase the pressure. In the 74th minute, Trong Tuan scored to seal a 2-1 victory for SLNA.
Meanwhile, PVF faced B.Binh Duong in a match where the team continued to demonstrate their strength. Similar to previous encounters, PVF quickly broke the deadlock against their opponent. In the 23rd minute, midfielder Nguyen Sy Manh Dung scored with a precise shot to open the scoring for PVF. This advantage boosted the confidence of Coach Nguyen Duy Dong’s players, allowing them to play with greater enthusiasm.
They maintained the 1-0 scoreline until the halftime whistle blew. In the second half, Binh Duong began to take more risks by pushing forward to attack. However, before they could find the equalizer, they conceded another goal. This time, Nguyen Trong Duc Vu secured a 2-0 victory for PVF against their opponents.
