Ranking remains static as the world fights COVID-19, Vietnam still ranks 94th in the world
The ongoing measures to combat the spread of the pandemic resulted in little football of late and, consequently, next-to-no movement in the latest FIFA World Ranking.
If the COVID-19 did not happen, the FIFA Ranking would have a huge change because according to the previous plan, there were 2 rounds of World Cup 2022 Qualifier in March. For the Vietnam team, the match against Malaysia is a chance for the team to gain the score.
However, because of COVID-19, many tournaments have to be postponed. The matches of the Vietnam team at World Cup 2022 Qualifier also need to be suspended while AFC and FIFA decided to postpone the matches until the later of the year.
Therefore, the latest FIFA World Ranking saw a minimal change. Belgium still is the No.1 of the world while Japan remained as Asia’s top side.
Vietnam remained as ASEAN’s topside with ranking 94th in the world, following by Thailand (113th in the world).
This result may maintain until October while the pandemic will be controlled and the games come back to the normal way.
