Song Lam Nghe An win the 2025/26 National U19 Championship – Modern Cup

This season’s final was a clash between PVF-CAND and Song Lam Nghe An. The Nghe An side delivered a highly convincing campaign with a perfect winning record, but their opponents achieved the same feat. After the opening whistle, PVF-CAND, enjoying home advantage, played with great enthusiasm.

However, head coach Hoang Tuan Anh’s side found it difficult to break down Song Lam Nghe An’s well-organised defence. Hoang Minh Hoi continued to shine in midfield, but it was not enough for Song Lam Nghe An to find the opening goal. The first half ended with the balance maintained.

In the second half, Song Lam Nghe An continued to maintain a tight setup and a determined playing style. Head coach Nguyen Hong Viet’s tactical approach proved effective as PVF-CAND faced significant difficulties in attack.

Despite the dangerous chances created by both sides, the forwards were unable to capitalise, and the match ended 0-0 after 90 minutes. The two teams then moved on to the penalty shootout.

In the tense penalty shootout, Song Lam Nghe An caused concern when Hoang Minh Hoi – the team’s star player – unexpectedly missed the opening kick. Fortunately, Bao Ngoc made an excellent save against Minh Nhat’s attempt in the second round, preventing Song Lam Nghe An from falling behind.

Drama unfolded in the third round when Hoang Trong Duy Khang slipped and sent the ball over the bar, while Tan Minh converted successfully to give Song Lam Nghe An a 2-1 lead. In the remaining kicks, Song Lam Nghe An made no further mistakes and won the shootout 4-3, thereby securing the championship title.
