Sports Dedication Awards 2025: The national men’s football team and the national women’s futsal team are officially in the top 3 nominations
On the afternoon of February 13, 2025, the Thể thao Văn hóa newspaper announced the top 3 official nominees for the 2025 Sports Dedication Awards. With their outstanding achievements in 2024, the Vietnam national men’s football team and the national women’s futsal team were nominated in the top 3 for the 2025 Sports Dedication Award.
In the category of “Sports Achievement of the Year,” the two national football teams are competing: the national men’s football team (Outstanding achievement: ASEAN Cup 2024 champions with 7 unbeaten matches and their third title in the region’s top tournament) and the national women’s futsal team (Outstanding achievements: Champions of the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship, champions of the NSDF Women’s Futsal Championship 2024 in Thailand, and runners-up in the CFA Cup Women’s Futsal Tournament 2024 in China). They will compete alongside the national women’s volleyball team.
Speaking at the announcement event, the captain and center-back of the Vietnam national football team and Hanoi FC, Đỗ Duy Mạnh, shared: “The athletes and sports teams have inspired fans, and I believe these nominations are all deserving. It is a positive recognition for everyone, and the nominations are truly well-earned given what sports have brought to life and to the fans. I think that myself, along with the other members of the Vietnam national team, are very happy to be included in the list of nominees for the 19th Cống Hiến Awards in 2025. The ASEAN Cup 2024 championship was the result of the entire team’s efforts, the hard work of head coach Kim Sang Sik, the players, each member of the coaching staff, assistants, and the logistics team. Especially, the support and encouragement from a large number of fans throughout this journey. The team’s fighting spirit, the determination of all the players, and the coaching staff created the result we hoped for—the recent championship win.”
In the “Sports Personality of the Year” category, player Nguyễn Xuân Son (Outstanding achievements: Best player of the V-League 2023/2024; Top scorer of the V-League and setting a record with 31 goals in the 2023/2024 season; Best player and top scorer of the ASEAN Cup 2024) will compete alongside Lê Văn Công (Weightlifting) and Trịnh Thu Vinh (Shooting).
The Sports Dedication Awards consists of four categories: Sports Personality of the Year, Sports Achievement of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, and the Dedication Aspiration Award. The awards aim to honor individuals or teams with outstanding actions and contributions in the socialization of sports, inspiring passion, spreading positive values in the community, and encouraging the development of sports movements across the country.
According to the regulations of the award, the categories of Sports Achievement of the Year and Dedication Aspiration Award will be selected and decided by the Sports Dedication Award Selection Committee, based on the nominations from the organizing committee.
The categories of Sports Personality of the Year and Young Sports Personality of the Year have started online voting, beginning at 3:30 PM on February 13, 2025, for fans on the official page of the 2025 Dedication Awards (https://giaithuongconghien2025.bvote.vn/).
Based on the online voting results from fans combined with the voting results from the Selection Committee, the final results for the two categories, Sports Personality of the Year and Young Sports Personality of the Year, will be determined. The winner in each category will be the nominee with the highest score, calculated from both the Selection Committee’s votes and the public voting points (with the public vote accounting for 50% and the Selection Committee’s vote accounting for 50%).
