Sports Nutrition Workshop: Equipping Young Female Athletes with Knowledge for International Training Camps
Building on the series of Sports Nutrition Training Workshops for young female athletes, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in collaboration with partners, the fourth session was held on the afternoon of March 3rd. The workshop focused on the topic: Dietary Regimen During Overseas Training Camps and Competition Phases.
Before developing the content, the Organizing Committee consulted with the head coach, coaching staff, sports medicine doctors, and nutrition experts to understand the current situation and challenges faced by the players. The chosen topic this time was selected in the context of U15, U17, and U20 women’s teams preparing for upcoming training camps and competitions in Australia, China, Thailand, and Japan.
Playing away from home means adjusting to new environments in terms of diet, culture, time zones, and living conditions. These factors can directly impact athletes’ physical condition, mental state, and performance. Therefore, the workshop focused on guiding players on how to prepare physically before the trip, select appropriate foods abroad, adjust their diet during competitions, and quickly adapt to the new environment.
The program content was developed closely aligned with the actual conditions of young Vietnamese players, enabling them to apply it immediately to their training and competition routines. This approach helps enhance their awareness of self-care, injury prevention, and maintaining consistent performance.
The workshop was organized in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, with the involvement of coaching staff and sports medicine doctors.
The series of workshops includes five topics:
Session 1: Basic Nutrition for Athletes
Session 2: Important Nutrients for Female Soccer Players
Session 3: Dietary Supplements and Hydration
Session 4: Nutrition During Away Competitions (Training Camps) and Competition Phases
Session 5: Injury Prevention and Specific Issues for Female Athletes
Through this program series, young female players are equipped with fundamental nutritional knowledge, contributing to improving their physical condition and supporting their goal of competing effectively in international tournaments.
