Elsewhere, in Hanoi, ACB.HN continued their disappointing run, going down 2-0 to PISICO Binh Dinh at home.
After three games without earning a single point, Southern Steel Saigon Port and ACB.HN are anchored at the bottom of the V-League.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai, who suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to Phu My Nam Dinh in the second week, started the game against struggling Southern Steel Saigon Port very well. They opened the scoring after ten minutes. Receiving A Huynh”s pass, Thai playmaker Datsakorn Thonglao produced a powerful strike from the penalty box, which was blocked by the visitors” goalie. Striker Douhou passed back for Duy Quang, who slotted the ball into the net.
 
Alongside Thonglao, A Huynh sent over succession of crosses and passes from the left, one of which set up forward Minh Nghia, who blast over five minutes from half-time.
 
Five minutes into the second half, Thonglao, Minh Nghia and Dohou produced a good link as Hoang Anh Gia Lai gave a sharp counterattack. Thonglao started the attack and exchanged with Minh Nghia, passing to Dohou, who found Thonglao in the box, before the Thai player rounded the goalkeeper and slotted the ball in. However, Thonglao was flagged off-side.
 
On 65 minutes, Thonglao produced a pinpoint cross for Minh Nghia, who failed to produce a final finish.  
 
Southern Steel Saigon Port face more difficulties as they were reduced to ten men with Nguyen Quang shown the red card after his attempt to retaliate Thonglao.
 
Five minutes later, Hoang Anh Gia Lai”s substitute Tang Tuan headed in Minh Nghia”s cross at the far post, making it 2-0.
 
With the match had five minutes to go, De Jesus, top scorer of the 2006 V-League, wasted a good chance to narrow the gap in a one-on-one confrontation with goalkeeper Quoc Viet.
 
Southern Steel Saigon Port have yet to earn a single point after three games.
 
Like Southern Steel Saigon Port, ACB.HN, failed to earn their first point, losing 2-0 to PISICO Binh Dinh.
 
Bruno opened the scoring for the visitors after 33 minutes, curling the ball into the net, giving goalkeeper Viet Cuong no chances.
 
Thai striker Sorayoot Chaikamdee doubled the lead in a counterattack in the 60 minutes.
