The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports has decided to call up 20 players in preparation for the two home games in the AFC Final Round of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
 
Dong Thap goalie Bui Tan Truong and Southern Steel Saigon Port centreback Nguyen Dai Dong have been called up for the Olympic team”s forthcoming home clashes against Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
 
Tan Truong, born in 1988, has become the first choice in Dong Thap’s starting XI. He even scored an equaliser when Dong Thap shared the spoils with defending champions Dong Tam Long An.
 
Dai Dong has emerged as a good centreback in Southern Steel Saigon Port this season. His good form has earned him a call up to the Olympic team.
 
Also, leftback Chau Phong Hoa, who missed a trip to Japan in the Olympic team”s first game in the AFC Final Round, in which the Olympic team lost 1-0, will return.
 
Dong Huy Thai, who was surprisingly called up for the national team at the AFC Asian Cup 2007, has been omitted from the Olympic team.
 
Following is the list of players who have been called up for the Olympic team”s home games: 
Goalkeepers (3): Tran Duc Cuong, Bui Tan Truong and To Vinh Loi.
Defenders (5): Nguyen Thanh Long Giang, Doan Viet Cuong, Mai Xuan Hop, Nguyen Dai Dong and Vo Nhat Tan;
Midfielders (8): Nguyen Ngoc Dieu, Nguyen Minh Chuyen, Mai Tien Thanh, Phung Cong Minh, Nguyen Vu Phong, Nguyen Quy Suu, Chau Phong Hoa and Vo Duy Nam; and
Forwards (4): Huynh Phuc Hiep, Le Cong Vinh, Phan Thanh Binh and Nguyen Anh Duc.
