AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam believes that with the long awaited implementation of the Vision Vietnam programme, Vietnamese football is set to embark on a new era.
Bin Hammam expressed his confidence that the Long An Provincial League, which is set to be launched on Friday under the aegis of AFC”s Vision Vietnam project, would prove to be the ideal catalyst for the professional development of the game in the country.
In a message to the Long An Football Association (LAFA), Bin Hammam said: SAt AFC, we are convinced that the profile and standard of football in Vietnam can be enhanced with concentrated effort and commitment. Vietnam has the necessary resources to be a major football power in the years to come.⬝
SBut to keep pace with the developments and demands of modern football, it is essential that all stakeholders of Vietnamese football work together to achieve the required standards at all levels of the game. Vision Vietnam is designed to provide this framework.⬝
Long An was selected in 2005 as a pilot project for Vision Vietnam because of its enthusiasm for football, its passion, its leadership and its commitment. Since then, Project Long An has made huge strides, including the establishment of the Long An Football Association and other football associations in the districts.
SOne of the most important elements and a key focus of Vision Vietnam Project Long An is the Long An Provincial League, which will provide a high-performance platform for the players, clubs, coaches, referees and officials. I am confident that this League will work as a catalyst towards football development in Long An and in Vietnam,⬝ said Bin Hammam.
He said the development of football in Asia was of critical importance to AFC and that its revolutionary Vision Asia programme held the key to unleashing the potential of football across the vast continent.
The AFC supremo congratulated LAFA for their hard work and foresight, and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for their ongoing support and hard work and urged all stakeholders of Vietnam football to make the country a formidable force at the international level.
SI urge other Provinces in Vietnam to follow the lead of Long An in embracing the Vision Vietnam programme, and thereby commit to the goal of making Vietnam a formidable force in international football. S
