The men’s futsal team arrives in Vietnam, completes the outstanding journey at FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021

In Dubai, the team was divided into 2 groups. One group with 5 members in the North flight to Hanoi, another group with 21 members in the South flight to HCM City. Assistant Huynh Tan Quoc still stays in Lithuania to support head coach Pham Minh Giang during the COVID-19 treatment. Mr. Pham Minh Giang and assistant Huynh Tan Quoc will take a flight after having the negative result with SARS-CoV-2. After arriving, the team will do the quarantine as per the authorities’ regulations.

At Futsal World Cup 2021, the Vietnam futsal team had an emotional journey. The team passed over a tough group stage after played with Brazil, Panama, the Czech Republic, then valiantly fight against the runner-up of the world Russia and only lost 2-3.

Head of delegation Tran Anh Tu shared that the Vietnam futsal team joined the World Cup 2021 at a difficult time however the result showed the improvement in both score and goal. Especially, the performance of players has grown, if compared to 5 years ago with Vietnam joined the Futsal World Cup for the first time. “In this competition, Vietnam qualifies to the round of 16. We lift to the 39th place in the world ranking. It is an extreme development of futsal Vietnam”.

Mr. Tran Anh Tú also argued that the Vietnam futsal team will continue to try hard forward to the next FIFA World Cup. He hopes that there will be more and more sponsors invest in futsal and accompany VFF to improve the futsal clubs. These will help Vietnam’s futsal has sustainable and long-term development.
