The Singapore U23 National Team arrive in Phu Tho, ready for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers
On the evening of September 1, the Singapore U23 National Team, led by head coach Firdaus Kassim, arrived in Phu Tho, ready to begin their campaign in Group C of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
After a nearly four-hour flight from Changi Airport (Singapore), coach Firdaus Kassim and his players received a warm welcome from the local organizing committee, who presented flowers and extended best wishes for their success in Group C.
To prepare for the tournament, Singapore U23 have brought a 24-man squad, featuring several players currently competing in the S-League. Notably, the team includes Japanese-born defender Junki Yoshimura, who plays for Albirex Niigata Singapore.
Although arriving in Vietnam later than U23 Bangladesh and U23 Yemen, the Singapore U23 team have had thorough preparation, including a training camp in Portugal in early August. The Lions also gained positive results in recent friendlies, drawing with the Philippines U23 and defeating Malaysia U23.
According to the schedule, on September 2, Singapore U23 will hold their only training session at the Phu Tho Provincial Sports Complex training ground. Coach Firdaus Kassim’s side will kick off their Group C campaign against Yemen U23 at 16:00 on September 3 at Viet Tri Stadium.
