The Vietnam team prepares for the 2023 Asian Cup with 34 players
As part of the preparation plan for the 2023 Asian Cup, head coach Philippe Troussier selected 34 players to be on the Vietnam team’s December 2023 list.

The Vietnam team gathered this time are mainly players who participated in the FIFA Days reunions this year. This is also understandable because they are people who have spent a long time being trained by the French strategist and mastered the playing philosophy he built for the Vietnam team.
Similar to the team’s previous gatherings, coach Philippe Troussier also convened a large force of U23 players to prepare for the 2024 U23 Asian Cup to take place in April 2024. Accordingly, there will be 29 players, including 3 goalkeepers, who will train with the National Team. Some excellent players from this team will also have the opportunity to join the National Team preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup depending on head coach Philippe Troussier’s assessment during training.
According to the plan, the group of U23 players preparing for the 2024 U23 Asian Cup will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from December 28, 2023, to January 4, 2024. The Vietnam team will gather on December 31, in which players including Que Ngoc Hai, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Le Ngoc Bao, Do Thanh Thinh, and Nguyen Hai Long will gather at the same time as the U23 group to check the health condition as well as creating good rhythm with the team.
The Vietnam team will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center field until January 5, 2024, and will depart for Qatar to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup. During the training period, the team will have a “rehearsal” friendly match with the Kyrgyzstan team on January 9, 2024.
