Indonesia and East Timor withdraw from Southeast Asian under-20 contest

   Indonesia and East Timor withdrew from the Southeast Asian under-20 football tournament, which will kick off on July 31 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Talking about the incident just prior the tournament kick-off, He Ravy Khek, vice president of the ASEAN Football Federation, said that the reasons for the two teams” withdrawal would not be clear until an AFF meeting on August 12.

Due to the withdrawal of Indonesia and East Timor, who had been drawn in Group B, also featuring Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia, the organisers had to redraw again and Brunei Darussalam will now  join the Group B.  

Accordingly, Group A features Malaysia, Singapore, Laos and Myanmar while Group B, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand and Vietnam

Also, changes have been made to the tournament fixtures. Accordingly, the tournament will end on August 10, instead of August 13.
