Hosts held to 2-2 draw as under-21 finals open
Hosts Da Nang were held to a 2-2 draw by Ca Mau despite a 2-0 lead in the opening match of Thanh Nien newspaper-sponsored football finals on September 28.
The Sports Daily reported the hosts launched attack after attack after kick-off and after ten minutes they went ahead. After Hung Son”s shot was blocked, the ball fell on path of Phan Thanh Phuc, who did not miss a chance to open the scoring.
Fifteen minutes later, Thanh Phuc scored another goal, doubling the hosts” lead, after Huu Hung”s cross.
Ca Mau narrowed the score to 2-1 with Van Tai curling the ball into the net after a freekick in the 65th minute. Fourteen minutes from time, Thanh Long broke the home side”s offside trap to levell the score.
In another match, Midako Nam Dinh had to work hard to beat Hoang Anh Gia Lai 1-0 with a goal by Thanh Nguyen.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai troubled their opponents, who seal a winner just six minutes from time. Thanh Nguyen headed home the winner after Ngoc Linh”s cross.
With a victory, Midako Nam Dinh top Group A while Da Nang and Ca Mau shared the second spot.
