Viet Nam tasted their second win at the International Under-21 Football Tournament yesterday after dominating Singapore 3-0.

The win helped Viet Nam to lead the tournament with six points, and they will now meet Thailand in the last match tomorrow.

Failing to score in the first half, Trong Hoang converted a left cross from Hong Viet six minutes into the second half to the net.

Striker Nguyen Dinh Hiep, who netted both goals for Viet Nam in their opening match against Myanmar on Monday, made the score 2-0 in the 84th minute as he tapped the ball in after an accurate right cross from Van Thuan.

It was Hiep again in the last minute of the match when he took a spot kick to the back of the net, cementing a win for Viet Nam.

The goal took Hiep to the top of the scorer”s list at the tournament with four goals, leading Viet Nam to the make-or-break championship final with Thailand on Sunday.

Earlier yesterday, Thailand, who beat Singapore 4-3 on Monday, took down Myanmar 1-0.

The tournament, also known as the Thanh Nien (Young People) Newspaper Cup, which has been recognised by the Asian Football Confederation as a new international championship for younger players in the region, drew teams from Thailand, Singapore, Myanmar and Viet Nam, all competing in a round robin for the championship.
