Two national football teams nominated for “Sports Achievement of the Year” at the 2026 Devotion Awards

The 20th Devotion Awards 2026, organized by Sports & Culture Newspaper (Vietnam News Agency), have officially announced the list of nominees in the sports categories. Notably, Vietnamese football has two representatives in the top three nominees for the “Sports Achievement of the Year” category, namely the Vietnam U22 National Team and the Vietnam Women’s Futsal National Team.

The Vietnam U22 National Team earned its nomination thanks to outstanding achievements, winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal and being crowned champions of the AFF U23 Championship, further reaffirming the position of Vietnam’s youth football in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Women’s Futsal National Team made history by winning their first-ever SEA Games gold medal, after finishing as runners-up in the previous five consecutive editions of the Games. In addition, the team also reached the quarter-finals of the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup, demonstrating the clear progress of Vietnamese women’s futsal on the continental stage.

In the individual categories, Vietnamese football also has a representative among the nominees for “Sports Personality of the Year” and “Young Sports Personality of the Year” — forward Nguyễn Đình Bắc. His notable achievements include winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal, the AFF U23 Championship, the ASEAN Cup 2024 title, and the Silver Ball at the 2025 Vietnamese Golden Ball Awards.

The presence of football representatives across multiple nomination categories at the 2026 Devotion Awards highlights the strong impact and positive contributions of Vietnamese football to the overall achievements of the country’s sports sector.
