U15 Vietnam score three goals in FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026 opener

U15 Vietnam put in a determined performance against Bosnia and Herzegovina U15 in their opening match at the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026 in Azerbaijan on 24 October. Despite suffering a 6-3 defeat, the young Vietnamese players demonstrated perseverance and an ability to adapt to the eight-a-side format.

Facing an opponent with a physical advantage and applying intense pressure from the outset, Vietnam U15 struggled to organise their defence and conceded four goals in the first half. However, head coach Hoang Anh Tuan’s players gradually settled into the game, improved their combination play and found ways to cope with their opponents’ pressure.

Vietnam U15 pulled one goal back late in the first half from a corner. Shortly after the restart, Van Tai scored from another set-piece situation to reduce the deficit to 2-4.

The match opened up in the following minutes as both teams continued to push forward. After Bosnia and Herzegovina U15 extended their lead to 5-2, Anh Hao quickly responded with a left-footed finish to make it 3-5. Although their opponents added another goal, Vietnam U15 continued to press forward and created several chances in the closing stages. The match ended in a 6-3 defeat for Vietnam U15.
