Ho Chi Minh City (30 June 2010) – Ho Chi Minh City emerged champions of

the National Women’s Football Championship 2010 when they beat Hanoi Trang An I 2-1 in the final league match that was played at the Thong Nhat Stadium this week.

 

 

With the win, HCMC win this year’s championship on 21 points at the end of the 10 league games while Hanoi Trang An I take second spot with 17 points.

 

Third is Vietnam Coal and Mineral, also on 17 points.

 

In the final league match, the two teams started the tie with their strongest possible lines-up with Hanoi Trang An I setting the early pace.

 

After several failed attempts, Nguyen Thi Muon finally gave Hanoi Trang An I the lead with just a minute left of the first half.

 

HCMC started stronger into the second half and their persistence paid off when Nguyen Thi Kim Loan slammed home the equaliser in the 63rd minute.

 

Kim Hong then sealed the points and the 2-1 victory for Ho Chi Minh City in the very last minute of play.

 

Apart from winning the title, HCMC also grabbed the Most Valuable Player award which went to Tran Thi Kim Hong while team-mate Doan Thi Kim Chi was the Top Scorer with six goals.

 

Hanoi Trang An II snatched the Fair-play award while the Best Goalkeeper title went to Duong Thi Khanh Ly.
