V.League referees worked hard to conquer the fitness test in cold rainy weather below 10 degrees
Despite the cold weather dropping below 10 degrees with rain, the V.League referees still tried their best to pass the fitness test, which took place in the afternoon of Feb 20 at Hang Day Stadium, Hanoi.
Out of a total of 20 referees and 31 assistant referees participating in the test, only 2 referees and 2 assistants have not fully recovered from their injuries to different degrees, so they did not achieve the expected results. Those are referees Nguyen Van Chom (Dong Thap), Nguyen Trung Kien (Hanoi), assistant Cao Thanh Tu (Binh Thuan) and assistant Nguyen Le Nguyen Thanh (Gia Lai).
Head of the VFF’s Refereeing Committee Duong Van Hien said that the 2022 season forecast would have many potential difficulties in the face of the still very complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, so the VFF Refereeing Committee also actively developed plans to ensure the force of referees on duty. It is expected that the VFF Refereeing Committee will organize another fitness test next month for referees who do not attend this training session for health reasons, instead of having to wait until the break in the middle of the training period as usual.
According to Mr. Duong Van Hien, the results of the fitness test before the new season this year have recorded the thorough standards of the referee team. Even some referees were infected with Covid-19, but also worked hard to maintain their training to ensure good fitness and excellently pass the tests.
Until now, Vietnam’s 11-a-side football has 3 FIFA-level referees, Hoang Ngoc Ha, Ngo Duy Lan and Nguyen Manh Hai, in which referee Nguyen Manh Hai is the young referee of Hai Phong for the first time, has been granted FIFA status since 2022. In addition, among 31 assistant referees participating in the national professional tournament this year, there are 7 FIFA assistant referees, including: Truong Duc Chien, Nguyen Trung Hau, Nguyen Trung Viet, Phan Huy Hoang, Pham Hoai Tam, Nguyen Lam Minh Dang and Tran Duy Khanh.
During the fitness test this afternoon, the aforementioned team of FIFA referees and assistant referees of Vietnam did not face many difficulties to pass the content according to FIFA standards. As for FIFA referee Ngo Duy Lan, who was appointed to administer the matches at the 2022 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, he soon completed the fitness test during the training session in early February.
