Pomina Steel Tien Giang also suffered a 2-1 failure at home battling Mikado Nam Dinh. At Quy Nhon Stadium, Pisico Binh Dinh drew 1 – 1 with Southern Steel Sai Gon Port, and LG Ha Noi ACB earned the same result against Mitsustar Haier Hai Phong in Ha Noi.
In an early match on Saturday, Pjico Song Lam Nghe An tied hosts Da Nang 1-1.
In the Khanh Hoa – Binh Duong game, the only goal was scored by visiting Binh Duong”s Philani at the 21st minute.
The striker suddenly appeared in the host”s penalty box, completely free of any defenders. The ball was whipped from winger Phung Cong Minh to Philani, who shot the ball into net.
It was the team”s second victory, and the first for new coach Le Thuy Hai. The results pushed the team up one place in the rankings.
Most considered it a bad luck day for V-League hosts when Tien Giang followed Khanh Hoa in losing at home.
Despite three chances to score in the first three minutes, the players just weren”t able to pull it out.
However, they did give Nam Dinh”s goalie Bui Quang Huy and his defenders a good work out.
They began to see some progless at the 25th minute when striker Le Quoc Bao Tam converted a missed ball into an opening goal.
Unfortunately it was all they could do because the second half belonged solidly to Nam Dinh.
Visitors” coach Bui Huu Nam asked his players to push up the forward line and organise more attacks, creating more pressure for the hosts.
After two threatening shots by Le Ngoc Lung and Pham Thanh Nguyen were blocked by Tien Giang goalkeeper Phan Truong Chinh, Ekaphan Inthasen was at the right place to draw for Nam Dinh.
A leg injury sidelinea Marques de Lima at the end of the first half, causing Tien Giang to become confused. They played ever weaker after that, leuing in a second goal at the 78th minute.
Last year”s V-League top scorer Hoang Ngoc Linh proved his worth when he replaced his teammate in the line-up, beating Chinh from a furious shot to the left far corner of the net.
Nam Dinh now stands in third with 12 points, while Tien Giang stands at 11th with eight points.
